• Police Searching for Three Suspects Who Accosted Student

    At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 26, a resident of Greiner Hall reported that while walking in Fargo Quad parking lot, he was accosted by three white males who pushed him to the ground, punching and kicking him. The victim was not injured in the attack but said that one of the suspects video-taped the incident with a cell phone.

    The University Police are investigating a burglary reported today, May 5, 2012, that occurred in the Red Jacket Residence Hall on the UB North Campus at 5:44 a.m.

    According to police, the victim woke up to find an unknown male standing in his room next to his desk. The suspect stated, “Sorry, wrong room,” and left. After the suspect left, the victim discovered that his credit card had been taken. The victim described the suspect as a black male, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, thin build, wearing a navy blue zippered sweatshirt, jeans and a red baseball cap.

    All residence hall residents are reminded to keep their doors closed and locked. Report suspicious persons to University Police immediately.

When the victim intervened, he was beaten by the man with the club and sustained injuries. The male suspect and the unidentified female both fled the area on foot.

    The Buffalo Police Department is investigating a home invasion that occurred on Winspear Avenue  at 10:45 pm last night.  Buffalo Police reported that three black males in their teens were armed with handguns, forced their way into the house and demanded money. Suspects were not picked up on university cameras coming onto campus.  They fled on foot in an unknown direction.  Police have reason to believe this house was specifically targeted by the suspects.  The victims in this case are not affiliated with the university.  UB Police assisted Buffalo police, but the suspects were not immediately apprehended.

    University at Buffalo Police have responded to several instances of students having medical emergencies after smoking suspected marijuana.  It is possible that illegal drugs being sold are mixed with other substances such as synthetic marijuana, which has been known to have serious side-effects such as agitation, increased sweating, inability to speak and hallucinations.  In the calls to University Police this weekend, victims experienced trouble breathing, dizziness, nausea and general disorientation.  The eight students involved all were transported to the hospital this weekend with similar symptoms.

Video images were captured of a possible suspect from the Kapoor Hall incident.
