University at Buffalo Police are investigating an incident that occurred on the Amherst Bike Path near the Ellicott Complex basketball courts on Saturday, Oct. 20, at approximately 10 a.m.

A female resident reports she was jogging on the bike path and was approached by a white male in his 40s, 5-foot, 10-inches tall with a thin build. He made comments indicating he had been watching her; he commented on her running style and made what she felt were concerning comments about her safety.  He left the area in a red van with a white stripe along the bottom.

While there were no physical threats in this instance, University Police would like to use this as an opportunity to remind members of the community to be cognizant of their surroundings and to remember that it is always safer to exercise with a friend.

Members of the campus community are reminded report any unusual circumstances or suspicious persons/activities to the University Police as soon as possible.  The University Police have increased patrols on the bike path.
