Amherst Police investigating assault on bike path near UB North Campus

Amherst Police are investigating an assault that reportedly occurred on the Amherst Bike Path near the UB North Campus on Wednesday, Aug. 14. The victim reported that he observed an unknown male who appeared to be chasing after a woman with a wooden club in his hand. When the victim intervened, he was beaten by the man with the club and sustained injuries. The male suspect and the unidentified female both fled the area on foot. 

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6-foot, 4-inches tall, 250 pounds, muscular build, short brown hair, wearing sunglasses, white T-shirt, faded blue jeans, white shoes and a bracelet made of beads.

Members of the university community are urged to be vigilant at all times, and are asked to report any unusual circumstances or suspicious persons and activities to the University Police as soon as possible.
