The Buffalo Police Depatment is investigating an off campus burglary that occurred at an apartment on Winspear Avenue at 4:30 a.m. on 1/7/15. Buffalo Police reported that two males forced their way into the house and stole a backpack containing computer equipment. The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.  The victims in this case are University students.  UB Police assisted Buffalo police, but the suspects were not immediately apprehended. The Buffalo Police investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call the Buffalo Police E district at 716-851-4416.

The Buffalo Police have reported an increase in burglaries in the University Heights neighborhood since last month. Members of the University Community that live off campus in this neighborhood are encouraged to be observant of their surroundings and to report suspicious persons to the Buffalo Police. Students who leave the area for the winter break should ensure that all windows and doors are securely locked before they depart, and valuables are not visible from outside. Leaving lighting on is recommended.  Students renting apartments off campus should also arrange for a landlord or a friend to check their apartment periodically and remove mail while they are gone.

Members of the community are urged to be vigilant at all times. Report any unusual circumstances or suspicious persons and activitiesto the University Police (716) 645-2222 as soon as possible.
