University Police received a report from a resident of Governors Complex on the North Campus that at approximately 5 a.m. today (Sept. 5) an unknown individual attempted to climb into a first-floor window leading to a common area hallway.

When confronted by the resident, the suspect falsely claimed to live in the room adjacent to the window, then eventually fled the area.

Individuals have been known to attempt to gain access to university residence halls for the purpose of stealing property from unlocked and unattended rooms. University Police are investigating this incident as an attempted burglary.

University Police also received reports that items were stolen from unlocked rooms in Richmond Quad sometime overnight on this same date.

University Police advise all residents to:

  • Keep your doors and windows locked.
  • Do not hold the card access doors open for people you do not know to be residents of the building.
  • Report suspicious activity to University Police as soon as you observe it by calling 716-645-2222.
