University at Buffalo police responded to a motor vehicle crash and subsequent fire on the South Campus on Tuesday afternoon.

No one was injured during the incident, which stemmed from an Amherst Police pursuit that began at the Boulevard Mall. Amherst Police have a suspect in custody, and there is no immediate danger to the campus community.

The incident began at roughly at 4:15 p.m. at the mall. The suspect led police to UB’s South Campus, where he drove across sidewalks near Squire Hall and crashed his vehicle into a parked delivery truck at a loading dock for Cary, Farber and Sherman halls.

The collision caused the suspect's vehicle to burst into flames. The Buffalo Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was heavily damaged. There was no damage to nearby buildings or to the delivery truck.
