Canadian Wildfires and Air Quality

Air quality may occasionally reach ‘unhealthy’ levels in Western New York as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to impact the northeastern United States.

The health and well-being of the university community is our top priority. UB will continue to monitor air quality conditions in the area and remains in close contact with county and state emergency management officials. UB facilities staff will adjust, as needed, building air handling configurations on campus. Additionally, supervisors will share mitigation steps and safety precautions with any employees who may spend time outdoors during periods of hazardous air quality.

Future UB Alerts may be issued depending on air quality levels. If a decision is made to alter or cancel future activities on campus, the university will communicate those changes to affected individuals in several different ways.
