UB Police have new evidence in the investigation into Thursday morning’s armed robbery that occurred near the Creekside Village Apartments on North Campus. Investigators have concluded that the robbery was targeted in nature and not a random act of violence.
“I want to assure the UB community that our campuses are safe — new evidence has led us to the conclusion that Thursday morning’s armed robbery was clearly a targeted incident and there is no residual danger to our students, faculty and staff,” said UB Chief of Police Kim Beaty. “Although we are unable to release further details as we continue our investigation, I felt it prudent to share this update and make clear there is no on-going threat to our community.”
As a precaution, UB Police will continue increased patrols near Creekside Village and the Ellicott Complex through the weekend.
While the investigation continues, anyone with information about this incident is asked to call University Police at 716-645-2222.
