University Police are investigating a suspicious incident that occurred Friday night on UB’s South Campus and are reminding students and members of the UB community to be aware of their surroundings at all times.

At approximately 8:50 p.m. Friday, two UB students reported to UB Police that they were followed by a vehicle with approximately four male occupants while walking from Squire Hall to their vehicles in the Farber parking lot.

The vehicle’s windows were rolled down and one of the students reported hearing a repeated clicking noise, described as possibly a taser, coming from the vehicle but the student did not see anything. The suspects also called out to the students.

The students did not recognize any of the occupants or the vehicle, which was described as a black minivan or crossover hatchback style vehicle.

UB Police have increased patrols in the area as a result. All members of the UB community are reminded to sign up for UB Alerts, as well as UB Guardian, an app that converts your smartphone into a personal safety device.

UB Police remind everyone to exercise caution and try not to travel alone when walking. To report suspicious activity, call UB Police at 716-645- 2222.
