Pandemic
Influenza
On September 7, 2006
Chancellor John Ryan sent out a letter to all SUNY campuses asking them
to engage in planning for a possible Pandemic Influenza Event. UB formed
a “steering committee” of public health and emergency planning
experts to guide the campus pandemic planning efforts. In March of 2007,
this committee presented to various UB administrators. A series of 11
breakout teams were assembled to address different aspects of the University’s
pandemic planning. The work of these teams is in the process of being
assembled into our pandemic influenza response plan which is in a matrix
format, as requested by SUNY. UB has also been coordinating with the Erie
County Department of Health, New York State Health Department and New
York State Emergency Management office to ensure an appropriate response
for the safety of the UB community. The Breakout teams are as follows:
