Burglary in Hadley Village Apartments

University Police are investigating a burglary that occurred at approximately 7:05 a.m. today (Oct. 13, 2016)  in Hadley Village Apartments.

The victim awoke to find an unknown suspect taking property from his room, and chased the suspect out of the apartment. The suspect was last seen running south out of the apartment complex. There were no threats or injuries reported. Witnesses also report seeing the suspect leaving the area.

The victim described the suspect as a college-age black male, approx. 5-foot-9, with short hair, a full beard and wearing grey hoodie and black pants.

The UB Police, along with assistance from the Amherst Police K9 unit, have searched the area and determined that the suspect is no longer in the vacinity. University Police investigators are collecting evidence at the scene.  A canvas of the building indicated that the suspect entered only 109 D Hadley Village and that he entered through an unlocked door.  

Member of the university community are reminded to secure doors and windows, and to call the University Police at 716-645-2222 if they have information on this incident. University Police also have increased patrols in the area.
